- How do I keep tropical house from sliding into future bass or chill house?
- Watch who owns the drop. Tropical house hands it to a physical-sounding instrument such as steel drum or marimba, at a slower tempo. Future bass drops onto heavily pitch-bent synth chords near 140 BPM. Chill house keeps the 120 BPM kick but never states a melody at all.
- Which words reliably produce the holiday feel?
- Name the instruments. "Steel drum lead, marimba counter-line, 105 BPM, soft kick, plucked synth, ocean ambience" lands far more consistently than sunny or summery, since the model has no direct way to render an adjective as sound. Adding "instrumental drop repeating the vocal melody" locks the arrangement in as well.
- Why does my tropical house sound cheap?
- The lead is normally too dry and too busy. Ask for "melody mostly in half notes, one empty bar between phrases," then add "steel drum with medium plate reverb and light chorus." Space and air are the entire aesthetic here, and a crowded hook removes both.
