- Is glitch the same as glitch hop?
- No. Glitch is a sound-design and rhythmic approach that can abandon a steady pulse altogether. Glitch hop packs the same timbres into a half-time hip-hop groove with stable drums and a heavy low end. Prompt glitch for experimental work, glitch hop when the listener should be able to nod along.
- How do I get real glitch character instead of added noise?
- Describe the failure modes, not 'noise'. Ask for buffer stutters, bit reduction, sample-rate crushing, failed time-stretch tails and notes chopped to thirty-seconds. Those map onto processes a model can render; 'add glitch effects' usually returns a layer of hiss and nothing more.
- It is chopped so hard the melody disappears. What now?
- Leave one line intact. Keep the pad or bass unbroken and apply the slicing only to the upper layers. 'Low end and harmony continuous, slicing on lead and percussion only' restores enough continuity for the ear to follow. Reintroduce the slicing gradually once that line is clearly audible.
