- How is tribal house different from afro house?
- Tribal house is about how many percussion layers interlock while the harmony barely moves. Afro house keeps more melody and more vocal narrative, usually runs a little slower, and often carries full singing in an African language. If you want rhythm alone to carry the track, prompt tribal house.
- What prompt actually produces layered percussion?
- Assign instruments to positions: "congas on the off-beats, bongos in sixteenths, shaker in eighths, cowbell once every two bars." Writing "tribal percussion" on its own usually returns a single drum layer; naming the parts and where they land is what creates the weave.
- The percussion in my results turns to mush. How do I fix it?
- Before you delete a layer, give each one somewhere to live. Panning is the first move — "congas left, bongos right, shaker centre and slightly back" — and tuning is the second, so ask for each drum layer to be pitched differently with the low drum kept clear of the kick's 80 Hz. Layers stop fighting once they occupy different places, and the density you wanted survives.
