- Where does gabber end and speedcore begin?
- At the point the body can no longer follow. Gabber sits at 160–200 BPM and still keeps a countable pulse under the distortion. Speedcore starts around 250 and pushes until the beat dissolves into density, so you end up listening to texture and pressure instead of rhythm.
- How do I stop the result collapsing into white noise?
- Keep the kick pitched and move that pitch audibly between sections, then write in real silence — two or three seconds of nothing resets the ear. Prompting for "block structure, extreme passages alternating with silence" achieves more than naming a 400 BPM tempo.
- Is there a practical use for this?
- In small doses. A full track exhausts most listeners, so the usual application is three to eight seconds as a transition or shock cut with quiet material either side. The impact comes from the drop in level, not from how long you hold it.
