- How does post-punk relate to punk rock?
- It follows punk chronologically and inherits its anti-mainstream stance, but the method is entirely different. Punk is direct output stripped to the minimum. Post-punk redirects that released energy into experiment — dance rhythms, unconventional timbres and introspective writing.
- Why is the bass so important here?
- Post-punk promotes the bass from harmonic foundation to primary melodic carrier while the guitar drops into a textural role. That inversion of roles is its most recognizable feature. Prompting "bass carries the lead melody, forward and grainy in tone" establishes the style straight away.
- How do I avoid generating ordinary rock?
- Three points in the prompt: "bass leads the melody," "guitars play cold single notes through delay, no wall of sound," and "drums repeat a fixed mechanical pattern." All three together are what make it post-punk rather than rock.
