- How is electro house different from big room?
- In electro house the drop is a midrange event: the lead's timbre keeps moving, and bass and lead are often the same synth. Big room hollows the midrange out and leans on a single hammering kick-bass instead. Prompt electro house for a melodic distorted lead, big room for space and impact.
- How specific should I be about sidechain?
- Quantify it. "Kick-triggered sidechain, around 6 dB of gain reduction, 100 ms release" gives the model something to aim at, and the word pumping does more work than heavy. Typing sidechain on its own usually returns an effect too subtle to hear on speakers.
- My drops come back muddy — what's the fix?
- Lead and bass are fighting over the same band. Split them explicitly: "bass below 60 Hz only, lead starting at 300 Hz, midrange kept clear," and ask for pads and long reverb to be removed during the drop. A drop hits because of what you take out, not what you add.
