- Is it the same as the Spanish dance of that name?
- No. The Spanish bolero is an eighteenth-century dance in 3/4. The one meant here is the Cuban bolero, a slow lyrical song in 4/4, and the two only share a name. Specify "Cuban bolero" or describe the cinquillo pattern directly to avoid the confusion when generating.
- How should I write the prompt?
- "Arpeggiated nylon-string guitar, cinquillo syncopation, light bongó and maracas, 70 BPM, full long-breathed vocal, duet in parallel thirds." The tempo has to stay under 80 — any faster and it slides toward the feel of son or cha-cha-chá.
- What commercial content suits it?
- Content that wants period feeling and sincere emotion — weddings, anniversaries, family subjects. The forces are sparse and the voice sits forward, so as background it easily overpowers voiceover; instrumental versions or the interlude alone are the usual solutions.
